    SC-200II features
    The SC-200 II is a high-rigid single-turret multitasking lathe that can process powerful and stable machining. Although the machine’s size is in 8” class, it holds a maximum turning diameter of 390mm and a swing over cover diameter of 700mm, ensuring a large machining area. It enables the machine to equip a 10” chuck. The output of the spindle motor has been increased to 15/11kW (Op. 18.5/15kW), making it superior to the previous model. In addition to the improved spindle motor output, the bar capacity and Y-axis side travel have also been improved to give it the ability to achieve a one-rank higher machining capacity.

    ■Development background
    SC-200, the predecessor of the SC-200II, received excellent reputation from customers. With enthusiasm to evolve it into a more convenient multitasking lathe, this SC-200II was developed. The main point of its acceleration is that it can carry out swinging widely within the compact body. Thanks to this feature enable you to expand the variety of machining. Moreover, it improved rigidity, workability, and precision by applying a new frame structure.

  • Oscillating Cutting Gets Even Easier to Use! Newly Equipped New Screen Makes Setup Easy!

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) added a new screen for oscillating cutting to NT Smart X! This screen makes it easier to set the frequency multiplier I and amplitude multiplier K. This screen is from FANUC.

    By changing the arguments, can the chips be broken up? What is the maximum chip length? What is the theoretical surface roughness? Before machining, it is possible to know answers to these questions. This allows for smooth setting without relying on trial and error after machining or relying on PC software.

  • [New Product Announcement] Work Stoker “HAKO-BEI Link” with a Choice of a Stand-Alone or a Connecting Use

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) improved the conventional work stocker “HAKO-BEI” and launch a new product “HAKO-BEI Link” that will be selectable as a stand-alone automation stocker.

    HAKO-BEI Link feature
    HAKO-BEI Link is the developed model of the existing work stoker HAKO-BEI, which can automate workpiece alignment and the processes of work stocker, and now available to use as a stand-alone work stocker. A gripper-type hand is adopted to this new model to prevent damage when holding workpieces. There are two types of workpiece trays to be stored in the work stocker (9 tier/4 tier) and the specifications will be different depending on the workpiece size.

    HAKO-BEI Link can be connected to other devices such as a parts washer and a deburring machine. Moreover, it can be combined with a CNC machine so that it is possible to automate the whole process from loading blank materials to aligning finish components into a tray when HAKO-BEI Link is connected to a CNC lathe. Since customers have a choice to use it as a stand-alone item or a connecting stocker, HAKO-BEI Link can be applied to a wide range of applications.

    In order to be used extensively by customers in various industries, we developed as a stand-alone automated palletizing system HAKO-BEI Link.   • [New Function Announcement] Simply Correct Geometric Errors of ATC Multitasking Machine by “Smart Tuning”

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (CEO Shogo NAKAMURA) launch a new function “Smart Tuning”, which enables to correct geometric errors of ATC multitasking machines simply and speedy.

    Smart Tuning features
    The Smart Tuning is a feature that can correct geometric errors easily when it occurs due to secular change or when you perform high-precision machining.

    The correction will be performed as you set a reference sphere and use Nakamura-Tome’s automatic measuring system HAN-BEI, and operate the machine following to the guidance.

    It is available to tune for a total of 10 types of geometric errors including the rotating center position error of tool spindle, which will improve the precision of processing.

    Before we develop the Smart Tuning, the correction of geometric errors required Nakamura-Tome’s engineering support. However, by using the Smart Tuning, customer’s operators will be able to correct the errors without Nakamura’s support. This progress enables the operators to tune the geometry on periodical maintenance, and to maintain the machine in high-precision condition all the time.

    ■Development background
    In order to achieve high-precision machining, resolving slightest geometric errors is an essential key point. Moreover, geometric error problem caused by secular change is unavoidable. However, the correction of geometric errors was a difficult task and it took a lot of time to make adjustment so far.
    To solve these problems at once and reduce customer’s burden, we developed the Smart Tuning.

    Since the JX-200 is equipped with the world’s shortest tool spindle “NT Smart Cube”, a wider machining area is ensured in an efficient manner and it improves work performance drastically.

    The existence of the tool spindle that swivels from -95 degrees to +95 degrees and the lower turret with Y-axis makes the machine applicable to any workpieces flexibly.
    In combination with the tool spindle and the lower turret, the machine fits several machining methods such as simultaneous machining with L/R spindles, upper/lower tools, and machining with a center support mounted on the lower turret.

    In order to realize the stable machining of any materials and shapes, a new column structure is adopted to the JX-200. It enables to optimize the center of gravity and becomes very strengthened against loads from any direction.

    Since any operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and gear cutting are possible with this “All in One Go” machine, the JX-200 will contribute to a wide variety of product making in different manufacturing fields.

    Along with the increasement of needs for high-mix low, customers have voiced their desire for “more flexible machining” and “more parts production” with a single machine.

  • 【Press Release】3D Smart Pro AI Updated! New Geometries to be Applied.

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (President Shogo NAKAMURA) updated a programming software named “3D Smart Pro AI”. From this update, previously unsupported geometries such as pocket and groove shapes with fillets at the bottom are able to be processed.

    ■Outline of 3D Smart Pro AI
    This is a software that AI analyses a 3D CAD model to determine the geometries of the workpiece and generates an optimal CNC program. Since it automatically outputs all the process from raw material to finished part in a program, this software enables anyone to program easily, quickly and properly.

    ■Contribute to the Improvement of Tool Setup and Production Efficiency
    Auto-programming will be completed within one minute and drastically cut man-hour which used to be taken hours when operators made a program manually.
    In fact, in the example of an entry-leveled engineer, he took 420 minutes to create a program in the past, but succeeded to reduce the work time to 20 minutes by using 3D Smart Pro AI.

    ■Biography of new Chairman Ken’ichi NAKAMURA
    Born on February 9, 1947. Joined Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. in 1971 and assumed office of President in 1988. Previously took the role of Chairman of Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association, and currently serves as Vice Chairman and Chairperson of Comprehensive Planning Committee. Chairman of Ishikawa Machinery & Electronics Association and Chairman of Ishikawa Vocational Ability Development Association.

    ■Biography of new President Shogo NAKAMURA
    Born on March 12, 1991. Graduated from the graduate school of Keio University and joined Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd. in 2015. Participated in the planning of the project aiming at the development of IoT system and its establishment among the field of plants, and joined in the development of new products and functions of multitasking machines. Assumed office of COO in 2018 and presided over the operation of machine tools’ business in which the Company’s main enterprise is.

  • 【Press Release】Automation of geometry offset by a tool setter enables anyone to measure the geometry quickly and accurately!

    HAKUSAN, ISHIKAWA – Nakamura-Tome Precision Industry Co., Ltd (President Ken’ichi NAKAMURA) developed a tool-setting support function “Geometry Navigator”. This function automates a part of the conventional method to measure the tool geometry and enables any operators to set up the geometry offset easily.


    ■ Outline of the Geometry Navigator
    The Geometry Navigator is a function to support operators by showing the guidance of a whole process to set the geometry offset by a tool setter, and automates all tool setup motion except for approaching at the beginning. Anyone is able to set tools easily and quickly because what the operators need to do is to operate a NC panel according to the guidance.
    Therefore, not only skilled operators but also unexperienced operators who are not used to work on the tool setting can work securely. Our study from trial runs by an unexperienced operator shows that this function achieved to reduce the setting time by about 45% when comparing the tool setting with and without the Geometry Navigator.

    When we use a machine tool, we have to set up tools and in this tool setting, the most requested function from customers to improve the efficiency of work is the process to measure and input geometry offsets.
    This process has been proceeded manually by touching a tool to a tool setter, but there are some problems that operators forget to measure some tool geometries or unexperienced operators take much more time to measure the tool.
    The Geometry Navigator aims to have anyone complete the setup quickly, easily and accurately by partially automating the work of measuring the tool geometry that is conventionally done by using a manual tool setter.
    I would like many people to use the Geometry Navigator to ease the tool setup occurring on a daily basis.
